West Jefferson Selected for Light Ohio Blue Remembrance Route

The West Jefferson Police Department is honored to share that the village has been chosen as one of the stops along this year’s Light Ohio Blue remembrance route, a powerful statewide campaign that pays tribute to law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

The annual event brings together agencies from across Ohio in a unified caravan to show support for fallen officers and those who continue to serve their communities with bravery and dedication.

​On Tuesday, May 7, the Light Ohio Blue caravan will pass through Central Ohio, with West Jefferson proudly serving as one of the key communities along the route. The event will culminate at the Scioto River

in Downtown Columbus, led by the Columbus Division of Police Motor Unit.

The following day, Wednesday, May 8, the 37th Ohio Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony will take place at the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy in London. This public ceremony will honor fallen officers from across the state in a solemn and moving tribute.

West Jefferson Police are encouraging residents to line Main Street on May 7 to show their support as the motorcade travels through. The department will release estimated arrival times in the coming weeks.

This annual tradition is a chance for the community to unite, reflect, and honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while also standing in solidarity with the officers who continue to serve.
