The nearly five-acre parkland was generously donated in April 2024 by the late Ralph Smucker, with the intent of preserving green space and promoting public use. To support the park’s development, the Village of Plain City secured $42,766 in funding through the 2024 ODNR NatureWorks program—making it the only Madison County project to receive a grant from the program this year.
Once complete, Smucker Park will provide a family-friendly destination where community members can borrow fishing poles and gear for free through the on-site fishing locker (note: a valid ODNR fishing license is still required). Construction is ongoing, and the park is expected to be completed later this year. To learn more about Plain City parks and amenities, visit www.plaincityohio.gov.
