Thanks to a generous donation from Fraternal Order of Eagles #950, MCBDD has acquired two new 3D printers at its central office. The program, known as Print-Abilities, is designed to create adaptive equipment for individuals in our community — most of it free of charge — to help improve everyday life. The initiative is all about innovation with purpose. Each week, MCBDD plans to post at least one 3D model that can be requested and picked up from their office. A “request thread” will be available for individuals, caretakers, friends, or family to either request specific models or describe a challenge that could be addressed with adaptive equipment. The Print-Abilities team will then search for existing designs or attempt to create new custom models to meet those needs.
In the future, MCBDD also hopes to offer hands-on workshops for individuals in their programs to learn 3D printing, 3D design/modeling, and gain access to print their own creations. 3D printing technology has advanced rapidly in recent years, making it possible to create detailed, on-demand, and cost-effective solutions that enhance independence and accessibility for individuals with disabilities. Community members can connect with Print-Abilities by visiting the program’s Facebook page and sending a message, or by scanning the QR code provided by MCBDD. 📍 Madison County residents, this is your opportunity to see innovation meet community impact. Whether you know someone who could benefit from adaptive equipment or you want to learn more about the program, Print-Abilities is here to help.
