Prescription Drug Take-Back Day Set for Saturday, October 26

This Saturday, October 26, 2024, communities across Madison and Union Counties will participate in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This annual event provides a safe, convenient, and free way to dispose of unused, expired, or unwanted prescription medications, helping to prevent misuse and protect the environment.

Local law enforcement, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), encourages residents to bring their prescription drugs to one of the designated collection sites. No questions will be asked, and the service is completely free. Please note that liquids, sharps, and over-the-counter medications will not be accepted. Additionally, vape pens and e-cigarette devices can be turned in if the batteries are removed.

  • Mt Sterling Village Administration Office
    • 1 S London St, Mt Sterling, OH 43143
  • West Jefferson Police Department & Jefferson Township Fire Department

  • Union County Sheriff's Office & Plain City Police Department at Pleasant Valley Fire Department

  • Union County Sheriff's Office

    • Please enter via the sally port from the south off 6th St.
  • Richwood Police Department

Why Participate?Unused or expired prescription medications can pose serious risks, including accidental poisoning, misuse, and environmental harm if disposed of improperly. National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day offers a secure way to dispose of these medications, helping to safeguard public health and the environment.

As the fall season brings a sense of renewal, it's the perfect time to clean out your medicine cabinets. Community members are encouraged to take advantage of this service, ensuring that surplus medications are disposed of safely and discreetly.
