The Pleasant Valley Fire District (PVFD) is set to undergo a significant leadership transition as Fire Chief Mark Kidd prepares to retire from the fire service. Chief Kidd has announced his plan to step back from daily operations, with Assistant Chief Bryan Adams assuming leadership responsibilities beginning November 15, 2024. Chief Kidd's full retirement is scheduled for March 2025.
A Roadmap for Success and Transition Over the past year, the PVFD has implemented a comprehensive succession plan designed to ensure the continued excellence of its operations. The plan focused on identifying future leaders within the department, fostering communication throughout the chain of command, and preparing the organization for seamless transitions in leadership. "The succession plan has been a vital process, not only to maintain uninterrupted service to our residents but also to prepare me for this next chapter in my life," Chief Kidd explained. "I am confident that the department will continue to function at a very high level under the leadership of Chief Adams." A Legacy of Growth and Excellence During his tenure, Chief Kidd has led the department through significant advancements, including increased staffing, enhanced service delivery, and strong financial management. He emphasized his pride in the department's accomplishments and expressed gratitude to the community for their unwavering support. "It has always been my goal to mirror the great achievements of the past, and I believe we’ve done that and more," Chief Kidd shared. "The community welcomed my family and me with open arms, and I will always cherish the opportunity to serve as your Fire Chief." Welcoming the New Leadership Assistant Chief Bryan Adams, who has worked tirelessly to prepare for this role, will take over the department’s daily operations. Chief Kidd will remain involved in an advisory capacity to help shape the department's direction during the transition. The PVFD staff has expressed excitement about working under Chief Adams’ leadership, and Chief Kidd is confident that his successor will lead the department forward in a positive and impactful way.
