Understanding Skimming and How to Protect Yourself One prevalent method of fraud is skimming, in which a hidden device is installed at point-of-sale card readers to steal EBT card information. Criminals can then use this information to make unauthorized purchases, leaving recipients without access to their funds. ODJFS recommends these steps to protect SNAP benefits:
What to Do If You Suspect Fraud SNAP recipients who notice unusual activity or have had their benefits stolen should contact their local County Department of Job and Family Services for assistance. Victims may be eligible for reimbursement of stolen benefits.
