The renewal levy will keep the same funding levels for CRITICAL services to support families and people in the Madison County community. This funding currently costs a homeowner ($100,000 home value) approximately $8 per year, or 67 cents per month, for access to mental health and recovery services. “It is important to know that this renewal will not raise taxes,” said Dr. Greta Mayer, CEO of the Mental Health Recovery Board. “But it’s also important to know that MHRB is committed to being a good steward of public funds. We acquire federal and state dollars to identify gaps and fund needed services BEFORE using local levy dollars that are tied to Madison County.”
In the past years, MHRB served has served over 350 Madison County residents each year, which does not include all the lives touched by prevention programing, law enforcement crisis intervention, and other services. Mental Health Services, Madison Family & Children First, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Madison County Public Health, and other care providers across our region receive funding to serve people living in Madison County. “All Madison County levy funds stay in Madison County or are used for Madison County residents,” states Adam Kempf, Director of Operations for MHRB. “We are fortunate to live in an area where voters understand that we are committed to providing the very best recovery services for every person and every family,” Mayer said. “Now more than ever, our community knows you really can’t put a value on mental health. We are confident that this election will result in a positive outcome for our families, friends, and neighbors.” For more information about mental health resources in Clark, Greene, and Madison counties, please visit the MHRB website at www.mhrb.org.
