around them. Their monthly visits to the Ronald McDonald House bring joy and light-hearted moments to families going through difficult times, as MATCO volunteers help decorate cookies and offer friendly conversation to lift spirits.
Closer to home, MATCO visits the Madison County Humane Society twice a month to spend time with cats and puppies, giving the animals much-needed socialization—and the staff a helping hand. One of the most anticipated visits each month comes from Emma, a friendly dog who brightens everyone’s day with her kisses and clever tricks. Her visits are part of the many ways MATCO fosters emotional wellness and joy among participants. Bowling is also a weekly favorite, with several individuals consistently scoring over 100 points—a sign of fun and improvement week after week. MATCO recently participated in the Madison County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD) Cabaret and Art Show. Individuals showcased their talents through music, poetry, visual arts, and performance. Highlights included Blair on the keyboard, Lois singing, Clayton reading a poem, and Debbilyn singing alongside staff member Julia. Jay, a talented artist, even sold two of his art pieces at the event. The group also sold colorful tie-dye creations at their booth, reflecting their artistic energy and entrepreneurial spirit. In addition to all their activities, the MATCO family celebrated several staff birthdays this month, with Penny helping mark the special occasions of Van, Priscilla, and Michelle. A recent trip to Columbus included a visit with a friend, Wille, followed by lunch at Roosters—just another example of how MATCO blends community connections with memorable outings. With more announcements on the horizon, the MATCO team is staying busy—and having a great time doing it. Stay tuned for what’s next from this energetic and engaged group.
