Madison Correctional Inmates Partner with MCBDD to Give Fairhaven School a Summer Makeover

This summer, a unique community partnership brought fresh life to Fairhaven School and the Madison County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD) campus.

For four weeks, three men from Madison Correctional Institution dedicated their time and skills to giving the facilities a much-needed refresh — a tradition that has become a welcome annual project.

Their work included:

• Thoroughly cleaning and wiping down the entire interior of Fairhaven School
• Touching up paint throughout the building
• Spreading over 14 tons of gravel around the building’s exterior
• Painting the shelter house and an exterior wall of the school
• Staining and painting two playgrounds and the basketball poles
• Freshening up bleachers with a new coat of paint
• Painting multiple rooms and moving furniture to accommodate improvements
  
  

These efforts have greatly enhanced the appearance and functionality of the school and surrounding campus, creating a more inviting space for students, staff, and visitors.
