Click It or Ticket: Plain City Police and Partners Promote Seatbelt Safety

​The Plain City Police Department is joining law enforcement agencies across the nation to participate in the “Click It or Ticket” campaign, running now through June 1. This national initiative emphasizes the life-saving importance of wearing seatbelts during every drive—no matter how short or long.

Whether you're heading across town to

work or just making a quick trip to the store, officers are reminding drivers and passengers to always buckle up. “Seatbelts save lives and significantly reduce the risk of serious injury in a crash,” the department emphasized in a recent message to the community.

To support the campaign locally, the Madison County Safe Communities Coalition teamed up with Small Town Scoops to reward safe driving behavior. On a recent afternoon, drivers spotted wearing their seatbelts received a free ice cream cone as a thank-you for making responsible choices behind the wheel.

The campaign aims to raise awareness and encourage consistent use of seatbelts, one of the simplest and most effective ways to stay safe on the road. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), wearing a seatbelt reduces the risk of death by 45% for drivers and front-seat passengers in a car.

As the campaign continues, local law enforcement will be keeping an eye out to ensure drivers and all passengers—front and back—are properly buckled up.
