West Jefferson Police Remind Residents to Stay Safe This Holiday Season

12/10/2024

Picture
WEST JEFFERSON, OH — The holiday season is in full swing, and while the town is bustling with festive cheer, the West Jefferson Police Department has a playful yet serious message for residents: stay safe and vigilant during your holiday activities.

On a recent evening foot patrol, officers encountered a surprise visitor — the Grinch himself! While the green troublemaker might be known for his mischief, officers had a lighthearted field interview to ensure he understood that such antics wouldn’t fly in West Jefferson.

The department took the opportunity to remind the community of a few simple but important safety tips to keep the season bright and secure:
  • Lock Your Doors and Secure Belongings: Whether you're at home or out shopping, make sure your car and house doors are locked and valuables are safely tucked away.
  • Stay Aware of Your Surroundings: The hustle and bustle of the season can be distracting. Stay alert, especially in crowded shopping areas or parking lots.
  • Take Extra Precautions: Small steps, like parking in well-lit areas and keeping an eye on your bags, can go a long way in preventing theft or mishaps.

“Wishing everyone a safe and happy shopping season!” the department posted on social media. Their message is a timely reminder that a little preparation and awareness can help ensure your holiday stays joyful and stress-free.

As the Grinch learned, there’s no room for holiday trouble in West Jefferson. By following these simple tips, residents can ensure the season is merry, bright, and full of goodwill.🎄
Stay safe, West Jefferson, and enjoy all the festive fun this season has to offer!
