The West Jefferson Police Department is proud to announce that Detective Mallory Teders has been named the Madison County Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Officer of the Year. This prestigious recognition highlights her dedication and efforts to improve how law enforcement handles mental health crises in the community.
The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) is a collaborative program aimed at strengthening the relationship between law enforcement, mental health professionals, advocates, and individuals experiencing mental health issues. Since joining the CIT committee in 2019, Detective Teders has been actively involved in working with mental health professionals and supporting individuals with mental illness, as well as their families, across West Jefferson and Madison County. Detective Teders’ leadership and advocacy have played a pivotal role in transforming the way the community responds to mental health emergencies. Her ongoing commitment to fostering partnerships and improving mental health outcomes in her community is recognized and deeply appreciated. During an award ceremony in Clark County, Detective Teders was honored in the presence of Chief Smith and Lieutenant Conley, who expressed their pride in her accomplishments. The West Jefferson Police Department celebrates Detective Teders for her outstanding contributions and dedication to ensuring that mental health crises are met with compassion and professionalism. What to Expect: Free Activities: From a Haunted House to Inflatables, Airbrush Tattoos, Henna, and even a Mechanical Bull, there’s something for everyone! Younger attendees can enjoy Balloon Animals, while thrill-seekers can dive into the spine-chilling Haunted Asylum. Family-Friendly Hayride: Hop on for a festive hayride between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. To guarantee your spot, make sure to be in line before 7:00 PM, as it’s a fan-favorite! Costume Contest: Dress to impress and show off your spooky, creative, or hilarious outfits at the Costume Contest, starting at 7:30 PM on the stage. Listen for announcements from the DJ for your chance to win some amazing prizes! Trunk or Treat: From 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, bring the kids for some trick-or-treating fun with decorated trunks offering candy and goodies. Running from September 30th to October 4th, students, families, and community members are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food items at their schools.This friendly competition aims to see which district can collect the most food donations, with all items benefiting local families in need. Every donation goes directly back into the community, making a difference in the lives of those around us.

The Village of West Jefferson is calling for community volunteers to help set up and take down for this year’s Fall Festival. Set-up will run from October 14 to 25, with the event happening on October 26. Tear down and clean-up are scheduled for October 27 to 30.
