The Madison County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD) will host its 26th Annual Golf Scramble on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the National Road Golf Course, located at 5135 US-40 in West Jefferson, Ohio.

This much-anticipated event is the Board’s primary annual fundraiser supporting its recreation program and helping fund Special Olympics in Madison County. Over the past 25 years, this outing has raised more than $220,000, enabling individuals of all ages with developmental disabilities to participate in sports and other recreational activities.

H.E.L.P. House Outreach Event
H.E.L.P. House is once again stepping up to ensure that every child can return to school with confidence, dignity, and the essentials they need to succeed. The annual Back-to-School Outreach Event will be held on Saturday, August 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., offering free school supplies and clothing to children in need across Madison County.

The outreach effort is designed to support economically disadvantaged students by providing not just supplies, but also clothing, shoes, and new socks and underwear—giving children the boost they need to start the year strong.

Mayor’s Sale, Benefitting the Raider Rack, Returns to London Shoe Sensation August 3

London Mayors Sale at Shoe Sensation
The annual Mayor’s Sale at the London Shoe Sensation is set for Sunday, August 3rd, 2025, from 12:00 to 5:00 PM. Shoppers will enjoy 10% off all regular-priced items, just in time for Ohio’s tax-free weekend, which runs from Friday, August 1st, through Sunday, August 3rd. That means even bigger savings for families preparing for the new school year.​
In addition to the discount, Shoe Sensation will donate 10% of all sales during the event to the London City Schools Raider Rack. The Raider Rack is the district’s free “store,” providing essential items like clothing, shoes, toiletries, and winter apparel to students in need. The main store is located on the second floor of London Elementary School, with satellite locations available at both London Middle School and London High School.

​The Raider Rack is entirely sustained by donations from the community, making this sale a great opportunity to both save and give back. Community members can pick up great shoes and the satisfaction of supporting local students and a local business.

Madison County Senior Center Announces October Amish Country Trip

The Madison County Senior Citizens Center is inviting the community to join a day trip to Amish Country on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. Open to anyone age 21 or older, this fun-filled outing includes stops at several popular destinations and a hearty lunch—all for just $45.

The group will depart at 8:00 a.m., with the first stop for lunch at Mrs. Yoder’s Kitchen. Afterward, the journey continues with visits to Heini’s Cheese Chalet, Sol’s in Berlin, Coblentz Chocolates, and Hillcrest Orchard. The return to Madison County is expected by 6:30 p.m.

Participants are encouraged to bring an insulated bag or small cooler for any cheese or perishable items purchased throughout the day. An envelope will be passed during the trip for an optional driver tip.

Trip fees are due by September 1. You do not need to be a senior or a member of the Center to join—just over the age of 21. For more details or to reserve your seat, call 740-852-3001.

Mark your calendars and bring your appetite! The Humane Society of Madison County (HSMC) is partnering with Los Mariachis in London, Ohio for a Dine to Donate fundraiser on July 21-22-23 from 11am-10pm — and your dinner can help make a difference for local animals in need.
Enjoy a delicious meal at Los Mariachis (located in London, OH) on July 21-22-23 from 11am-10p​m and 20% of your dinner bill (excluding tax) will be donated directly to HSMC to help care for homeless and rescued pets. All you have to do is bring a printed flyer to the restaurant and enjoy your meal!

Smucker Park, one of the village’s newest amenities, will soon offer public access to fishing and canoeing/kayaking in a peaceful natural setting. Located on Plain City Georgesville Road NE, directly across from the Darby Fields neighborhood, the park features a paved parking lot and will include picnic tables, a short trail, and a paved area equipped with a community fishing locker.

Buckeye Ford is revving up for another exciting day of classic cars and community fun as they prepare to host the 2025 Car Show on Saturday, July 26. The event will take place right on the dealership lot at 110 US Highway 42 SE in London and is presented by Classic Axles, a well-known name among local car enthusiasts.

Car lovers of all ages are invited to stop by and enjoy a wide variety of unique and beautifully restored vehicles. From vintage favorites to rare finds, the show promises something for everyone. Last year’s show drew an impressive crowd, and organizers are anticipating an even bigger turnout this summer.

Vehicle registration for those interested in participating is handled exclusively through Classic Axles’ website. Spectators can simply show up and enjoy the display, meet fellow enthusiasts, and take in the craftsmanship on four wheels.
