Jefferson Township Firefighters Honor Fallen Heroes with Memorial Scholarship

The Jefferson Township Fire Department is turning grief into purpose through a new initiative aimed at honoring its fallen heroes while inspiring the next generation of first responders.

The Jefferson Township Fallen Firefighters' Memorial Scholarship has been established in memory of five department members whose loss has deeply impacted both the department and the broader Madison County community:

• Captain Jeffrey Routte (2014)
• Bradley Haynes (2019)
• Shane Brintlinger (2019)
• Tommy Rees (2021)
• Logan Jester (2025)

The men remembered through this scholarship were more than firefighters—they were mentors, friends, and respected community members. Their contributions continue to inspire those who serve today.

To honor their legacy, the department is offering a scholarship opportunity for high school seniors residing in Jefferson Township who are interested in pursuing a career in firefighting or Emergency Medical Services (EMT/Paramedic).
